A Personal Card to the Internet. Happy 40th Birthday!
I am wondering, how do these facts measure to the expectation and wildly held beliefs that American “Capitalism” breeds innovation?
If we look at our short history, our greatest achievements seem to have been funded by society as a whole. Space and War, mainly. The internet was government funded, the defense department experiments actually funded innovations in aerospace, our education system produced many of the health care breakthroughs, yet we see people demanding we leave innovation to an economic policy of “greatest dollar returned on dollar invested”.
